IDstrip

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

IDstrip (“IDstrip,” “we,” “us”) helps reunite lost items with their owners through a private lookup code. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. When you subscribe, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password.

Contact details you choose to add. To be reachable when an item is found, you may add details such as your name, phone number, and a short message shown to a finder. You control what is shared.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly.

Messages. If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email, and message you submit.

Essential cookies. We use a single signed cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To provide the service — your lifelong code, tag printing, and account.

To connect a finder with you privately when a code is looked up.

To process your subscription and send service emails (such as your welcome email and replies to your messages).

To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.

How the lookup keeps you private

When someone finds an item and enters your code, your contact details stay private. The finder only sees what you have chosen to reveal, and can reach you through the site — your personal data is never exposed automatically.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate IDstrip, under agreements to protect it:

Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and our hosting and database providers (to run the site and store your account). We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account exists. If you cancel, your code becomes dormant. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time (see below).

Your choices and rights

You can access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you can cancel your subscription at any time from your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. To make a request, use our contact form.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

IDstrip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “last updated” date.
